Thiruvananthapuram: The infamous burglar Devinder Singh aka Bunty Chor, 44, attempted suicide at the Poojappura Central Jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Bunty Chor, who is notorious for his high-tech and sophisticated ways of robbery, broke a CFL bulb with his teeth and drank water. He was immediately taken to the Medical College Hospital. The doctors informed that he was under observation at the surgery department and his vitals were stable.

Bunty Chor is currently serving a 10-year jail term for a robbery that he committed at the house of Venugopal Nair, an NRI, at Muttada in Thiruvananthapuram. He had stolen things worth Rs 29 lakhs, including a luxury car. The theft took place on January 20, 2013.

Later, the police nabbed the former Big Boss reality show participant with the help of CCTV visuals. The police could also retrieve the stolen valuables at the time of the arrest.

Bunty Chor is wanted in around 300 cases all over the country.
