Paravur: Days after noted Kannada journalist Gauri Lankesh was killed in Bengaluru, a prominent Hindutva leader in Kerala has accused the ruling Congress party in Karnataka of the the murder and cautioned secular writers in the country that her fate may be awaiting them.
Hindu Aikyavedi state president K.P. Sasikala, who is known for her highly inflammatory communal remarks, has urged the writers to conduct a Mrutyunjaya homam (a ritual meant to escape death) at some Lord Shiva temples if they don't want to meet with the same fate of Lankesh. She said the Congress was behind the murder of Lankesh as the party was sensing loss in the upcoming state elections.
Sasikala said this during a Hindu Aikyavedi function here. The speech has gone viral on social media.
“The RSS keeps growing even as rivals oppose it. It did not have to commit such a murder. Hence I tell the secular writers. You better visit the nearest Lord Shiva temple and conduct a mrityunjaya homam. Otherwise you may also be victimized like Gauri,” she said.
Congress leader and Paravur MLA, V.D. Satheesan, has filed a complaint against Sasikala with the state police chief.
The BJP government at the Center had also accused the Congress government in Karnataka of failing to provide security to Lankesh, who was a well-known critic of the Hindutva.
Recently, some RSS workers had clashed with certain groups of Mujahideen group of Islam after the latter distributed pamphlets at homes in Paravur. The Sangh Parivar outfits had accused the Congress MLA of siding with the Mujahideen groups. To clarify their stand, Congress had held a public meeting. The Hindu Aikyavedi too followed it up with another function during which Sasikala made her controversial remarks.
Sasikala has courted controversies with her speeches on several occasions. Earlier too, she was booked by the police for making inflammatory remarks.
