Ahmedabad: Two students from a Gujarat college, including a Keralite, drowned at the Candolim beach in Goa in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Anuja Susan Paul, 22, hailing from Muvattupuzha, and Gurram Chenchu Sai Jnaneswar, 23, a native of Bengaluru.

Both of them were Crafting Creative Communication (CCC) students of Mudra Institute of Communications in Ahmedabad. The students were in Goa for a five-day field trip.

The accident took place when a team of six students visited the Candolim beach around 3 am. Four in the group drowned when they ventured out into the sea in the dark. Two of them were rescued.

They had left the institute on September 4 and were scheduled to return on September 9.
