Bengaluru: In a daring attack, four bike-borne robbers looted passengers on-board a KSRTC bus at Channapatna, 65 km off Bengaluru, in the early hours of Thursday. The attack happened at around 2.45 am when the passengers were asleep.
The driver had stopped the bus for a short break when the robbers climbed into the bus from different doors. The robbers then threatened the passengers with knives and whisked away money and ornaments. The bus that came under attack had started its journey from Kozhikode Wednesday evening. The attack happened on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.
The Channapatna area had hit the headlines even earlier for similar incidents of robbery and even murder, especially at night. The conductor of the bus, Mujeeb, said the assailants ran away only after the driver and others threatened the robbers that they will call the police. All the passengers are safe.
Sources inside the KSRTC said that the police have picked up two people in connection with the incident but the driver and conductor could not identify them. The same sources also revealed that safety concerns raised on previous occassions were ignored by the local police.
