Never meant to demean actress, says PC; pray tell us why you made your 'cruel' statements PC George

Kochi: Independent MLA P.C. George has been hogging the limelight and receiving brickbats for his various comments on a young actress who was attacked in Kochi. But unperturbed by the backlash he has been receiving, the Poonjar MLA makes and breaks statements as per his whims and fancies.

Barely days after accusing the woman of lying, George has the audacity to say that he had never meant to demean the young actress.

"In the report submitted in the Kerala High Court, the police had compared the February 17 attack to the infamous Nirbhaya case. That was an exaggeration, by any stretch of imagination. I was merely pointing that out," George said during Manorama News talk show, Nere Chove.

The MLA reiterated that there was no proof against actor Dileep, arrested for plotting the crime.

"The police said there was 19 pieces of evidence against Dileep, but they are yet to present even one proof before the people," he said, adding that there are probe officers who believe that the actor has not committed the crime.

But the MLA needs to remember that his statements are aimed at a young woman, who is yet to decry the volley of abuses hurled at her. Wasn't it bad enough that she was tortured in a moving car in Kochi? Even almost six months after the heinous crime, her tormentors have not been punished by the law?

Not stopping at that George had attacked the woman and questioned how the victim actress went on to act in films two days after the heinous incident and why she did not go to hospital for treatment.

This had earlier drawn flak from people in the industry, with noted dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi accusing George of having insulted the actress and that he also mocked the investigation team. She was responding to George’s statements. Even the Women in Cinema Collective had demanded action against the outspoken MLA.

You can watch the full interview of P.C. George on Manorama News at 7.30 pm Saturday.
