Thiruvananthapuram: The ruling CPM in Kerala on Saturday said it would give Rs 10 lakh as solatium to the family of a Muslim teenager, Junaid Khan, who was stabbed to death on a train.
The decision in this regard was taken at the CPM's state committee meeting, a press release said.
Junaid's family had recently met chief minister Pinarayi Viajayn along with CPM politburo member Brinda Karat at Kerala House in Delhi and had narrated the problems being faced by the family.
The family had sought financial help for the education of their children, the release said.
The amount would be handed over to the family through the central committee.
Junaid, 16,was lynched by a mob that allegedly mocked his skull cap and called him a beef eater. The June 22 incident had sparked a nation-wide outrage.
The main suspect in the case was arrested from Maharshtra in early July.
