Kollam: The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called off Wednesday's dawn-to-dusk hartal in Kerala. The party had on Monday called for the hartal to protest the denial of bail to its chairman Abdul Nasser Madani, who has been jailed in connection with the Bengaluru blast case, by an NIA court in Bengaluru for attending the wedding of his son.
PDP state working committee chairman Poonthura Siraj said that Madani instructed to call off the hartal.
Earlier, Madani had submitted the bail plea in order to attend the wedding of his son Umar Mukhthar to be held at Thalassery on August 9 and to visit his ailing mother.
However, the court allowed bail only from August 1 to August 7 to visit his mother and Madani would have to return without attending the wedding.
