Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday flayed the RSS' family counseling program titled 'Kudumba Prabodhan,' terming it a move to propagate the values of Manusmriti and impose the Hindu way of life on the people.

"What to eat and what to wear are the fundamental rights of a citizen. The RSS' effort to infringe on this is a violation of human rights," Pinarayi said in a Facebook post.

Prime minister Narendra Modi, who directed the states to take stern steps against those indulging in violence in the name of cow protection, should intervene and stop the RSS from dictating people on leading lives of their choice.

He said the media had reported on 'Kudumba Prabodhan' in which the campaigners visited households to instil values and ethics and promote Indian attire.

"It is yet another attempt to shape society according to the RSS agenda," he said.

"It is a program to implement the Hindu way of life with the help of the central government,” Pinarayi alleged, saying if it was not checked, the democracy and secularism of the country would be in danger.
