Demonstrations were taken out and protests broke out instantly after the police took actor Dileep to the Aluva police club in connection with the actress attack case late Monday. Mediapersons had gathered at the club at 7 pm, minutes ahead of the news of Dileep's arrest broke out.
There was a steady flow of people and the police had to step up deployment in front of the club. As news men started live reporting, the crowd chose to clap loudly and cheer as anchors made a mention of how the police meticulously gathered evidence to nail 'the big shark' and establish conspiracy.
As director Vinayan lashed out at Dileep on Manorama News, certain youth organisations arrived at the club and raised slogans against Dileep. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists shouted slogans and sought action against AMMA president Innocent, MP, and actor Mukesh, MLA. The police had to intervene and pacify protesters as Yuva Morcha workers too arrived on the scene.
Meanwhile, a restaurant called 'Dhe Puttu' at Palarivattom in Kochi, owned by Dileep and friend and film-maker Nadhirshah, also saw protests by Yuva Morcha. The police were providing protection to the restaurant. The police, preempting action, closed down the restaurant in Kozhikode. Yuva Morcha burnt Dileep in effigy in the town. The DYFI activists vandalized the restaurant's Kozhikode branch late Monday night. They smashed the glass panes and also destroyed the furniture.
Youth Congress activists took out a march to Dileep's D-Cinemas but dispersed soon after. The police had informed the magistrate that Dileep would be produced in court Tuesday. However, sources did not rule presenting Dileep at the magistrate's residence in Angamaly at night itself.
