Mundakkayam: P.T. Thomas MLA wants the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation into the attack on an actress on the highway near Angamaly in February.

The Thrikkakkara representative said ‘Pulsar’ Suni cannot have orchestrated the attack alone. He has written to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to hand over the case to the central agency to bring to justice the real culprits.

The case called for a detailed investigation in the light of new revelations. The new exposes prove that the accused have a free hand even inside the jail. The court denied them bail so that they cannot influence the witnesses but they seem to be more influential inside the jail, Thomas said.

He said it was clear that the investigation was not in the right direction. The police could easily track the people behind the incident if they seized the phone used by the accused in the jail and examine it.

The case has been murky from the beginning as reports of denial of a conspiracy angle created doubts among the people, Thomas said. Latest revelations make it clear that the case needs to be probed further.

Thomas said that he did not think that the state police could crack the case. The CBI has to take over the case to bring the real culprits to justice and to examine if the probe so far had gone off track.

He also took a snipe at the movie artistes, saying that they were silent on the issue after initial protests.
