Kollam: In a shocking turn of events, the family of a 14-year-old boy who allegedly committed suicide in 2010 in Kundara near here alleged that their son was murdered by Victor, who was recently arrested for raping his granddaughter for over a year.

The boy was found hanging in their house, which is next to Victor's, when the child's mother returned home in the night from a hospital where her husband was undergoing treatment. Days after his death, Victor's son Shibu himself told the boy's sister over the phone that the father-son duo killed the minor child.

“Shibu told me - 'Our target was you. But you were not there and we got your brother. We will cut you into pieces when we get a chance'. Even after that, Shibu's accomplices tried to attack me several times,” the deceased boy's sister told Manorama News.

It was not known what was the cause behind Victor's enmity towards this family.

Serious allegations against police, officials

Though the family complained to officials and police that the boy was murdered by Victor and Shibu, they were allegedly asked to stay mum about the issue. The mother also alleged that the police were siding with Victor's family and even demanded bribe from her. The boy's father has been unwell for some years now.

“We pleaded with the police and panchayat officials to conduct my child's postmortem in Thiruvananthapuram and not in Kollam. But they did not listen to us and finished the autopsy in Kollam itself. His body was cremated soon, in a move to wipe off all traces of evidence,” the boy's mother said.

“Had they listened to my complaints then, Victor's granddaughter might have been alive now,” the boy's mother said.

Fearing more harassment, the family then shifted from Kundara to Alappuzha. With Victor landing in the police net, the family decided to speak up.

The boy's mother told Manorama News that they were constantly threatened by Victor and his son Shibu that they would kill others in the family if they moved against them.

'They tried to put me into prostitution'

The boy's sister also said that Victor's wife Latha continuously tried to force her into prostitution.

“Victor's wife Latha had asked me several times that she would give me good money if I do as told by her,” the woman, who is married now, said.

Speaking to Manorama News, Kollam rural SP S. Surendran said that though they have not got a fresh complaint in the boy's death, the police have voluntarily launched a probe.

Victor, a habitual offender

Victor was arrested Sunday, two months after his daughter's 10-year-old girl was found hanging. The father of the girl alleged that his daughter was murdered by Victor, her maternal grandfather.

Victor is also an accused in two other rape cases. There are allegations that Victor sexually abused men during his job as a lodge manager.
