Melbourne: The assailant who stabbed a 48-year-old Keralite Catholic priest at a church in Melbourne Sunday was arrested by the police. The culprit has been subjected to medical examination and will be produced before the court on June 30.
Father Tomy Kalathoor Mathew was stabbed while he was about to start his Sunday service. He was hospitalized after he suffered injuries to his neck. The man had entered the church and confronted the priest in the foyer. The assailant asked the priest if he was a Hindu from India before wielding the knife against him.
The condition of the priest is now said to be out of danger.
