Cheruthuruthi: A family in Puthupadam village has set a unique example of charity, offering free drinking water to hundreds of people every day. Moideen and family have in fact invested quite some money for it.
Thousands of vehicles pass every day through the Cheruthuruthi-Ponnani road where Choyinkunnath Moideen's house is located. The family provides free water to hundreds of travellers including Bengali workers in the hot summer. As people coming for water became a daily routine, kept on increasing daily, Moideen invested Rs 40,000 in January to install an RO filter and set up water taps inside his compound as well as outside.
He also put up a “drinking water” board on his wall. That brought more people to his home as the Earth sizzled. Bus drivers, laborers, pedestrians and children returning from outdoor games are regular visitors day in and out.
Moideen credits his family members for the inspiration and support they extended to him in this charity endeavor.
