Standing tall on 30 cents of land at Areacode in Kozhikode is Shihab’s 4,800 sq ft house. Shihab wanted a novel plan that was contemporary in style. To deliver this, experimenting with style elements was the mantra of designers.
The designers gave the box style elevation a fluidity, which ensured maximum utilization of land space without compromising on ultra-mod look. The elevation was given white and grey color scheme. One of the side walls has been done in double height with the cladding stones paved on it adding a dash of chic to the space. The garden landscaped with natural stone and green grass is a perfect foil to the imposing structure.
To the side of the sit-out stands the car porch. The space between the sit-out and the living area houses a thulasithara.
The living room with double height gives the place an expansive look with the Italian marble floor complementing the rich feel. The custom-made furniture set in leather finish were matched up to the color theme of the interiors.
The living-dining space has been designed in a semi-open style. The dining table with glass on wood can seat ten. The dining space has been well-defined and differentiated with gypsum-veneer false ceiling and lighting within.
A big suspended showcase in wood under the staircase provides the much-needed privacy to the family living space.
The elevation sports a different style and facade from the left side. A patio built here leads you out from the dining space. The space over this patio has been converted into a party area covered with a roof and grills on GI pipes on the sides. A glass-topped pergola near the party space adds to its charm. To bring in a contrast element to the landscape the pavement tiles here have been painted in light blue.
The bedrooms have been exquisitely designed. There are five bedrooms done up in five color schmes. All the bedrooms have attached bathrooms, wardrobes, and study areas. The headboards in each bedroom have been designed to go with their respective themes. Headboards in plywood and veneer, wallpapers and curtains add style and substance to the room decor. The false ceilings in gypsum-veneer finish with warm color lighting add to the ambiance of the bedrooms.
The house has a white themed kitchen with the cupboards in high-glossy laminate. The kitchen counter top has been done up in white Korean stone. The compound wall gels with the elevation and looks like its extension. The highlighter lamps cover the structure in a halo of bright light enhancing the outward decor.
