Shihabudeen and Aneesha’s home at Mancheri in Malappuram is the perfect example of the simplicity and fine elegance of contemporary-style architecture. It was designer Shafeeq Ali at VM Builders, Malappuram, who designed this 2,800 square feet stylish abode in a 15-cent plot.
The elevation has a box structure; the shape of the gate too conforms to it. The interiors are designed to keep the privacy of the dwellers intact, and are not marred by elaborate decorations.
The sheer simplicity enhances the elegance of the structures and spaces. The landscaping done at the elevated spaces give a cooling effect to the interior. The cross ventilation brings in natural light and breeze. The floors are of granite.
The black and white combination of the living room gives it a minimal, yet classy look. Here, windows take up an entire wall and blinds are used as curtains. The custom-made furniture in jute fabric adds to the elegance of this space. The formal living space is arranged in such a way that it gives privacy to the rest of the home. Kitchen and dining area is open; and the false ceiling done in the dining is quite attractive. The work area near the kitchen is very useful. There is a study space for the kids near dining area.
There is a living and TV space in the upper story. The spaces are wisely utilized in this house. The area below the stairway is turned into a prayer room. A combination of stainless steel and glass enhances the beauty of the stairway.
The black and white combination is repeated in the bedrooms as well. Roofing has been done in the upper open terrace in order to turn it into a utility area. The simple look, which dons the exterior and interior of this house, makes this house a class apart from the rest.
