Luck is when opportunity knocks and you answer. For Bavithra, the timid Chennai girl who was crowned as Miss South India 2017, her first big-pageant experience turned out to be the most memorable one in her life.
Among the many pale faces in the green room of Miss South India contest 2017, Bavithra seemed so excited and relaxed. “I have been modeling for just one and a half years now and this is my first pageant experience. I feel spellbound,” she said with sparkling eyes. Much like they say, luck is infatuated with the efficient. The jury would have never thought twice to crown this queen of sheer perseverance and subtle innocence.
Bavithra isn't that exceptionally bold, luring six-feet-tall model who jiggles the ramp with her looks and attitude. Among many such, she is rather a fresher with a do-or-die attitude. When the jury threw shrewd situational brainstorming questions at the other contestants, Bavithra faced a simple and most thoughtful question.
It was Toshma Biju, a well-known journalist and one among the five-member jury panel for the contest, who asked Bavithra that single phrased question: “Bavithra, are you, by any chance, nervous?” She was spontaneous to answer: “Ma'am, this is my first big experience as a model and I feel more than excited, lucky to stand here, in front of you. I think nervousness comes nowhere in here.” Miss South India 2017 was crowned in that very moment.
The young Chenaiite was left speechless when the jury announced her chest number as the ultimate winner of the contest. Bavithra took a second to conceive the fact and she gasped in astonishment. Addressing the media from the stage, wearing the beauty crown and tag, she turned that tender girl again. “I am not making any big promises,” she said, “but I have proven that the ramps are for short girls too. Stepping down from this five-inch heels I am wearing, I am a normal, short girl with average looks. This crown belongs to all common girls out there.”
When the other contestants were busy in the green room, grooming themselves for the coming rounds, Bavithra was wishing them best, waiting for the hair doers who were grooming them and talking to everyone much like someone among the audience.
Bavithra's story offers wide wings to the dreams of all young ambitious girls in the town. Success follows those with right attitude and spirit.
