Do you think your wardrobe is outdated and boring? Here are some tips to keep in mind when you revamp your wardrobe. Master silk designer Beena Kannan, founder of 'Seematti Silks', suggests you five must-haves in every girl’s cupboard.
A casual gown
“Keep a casual medium flared gown which is very simple and colorful,” says Kannan. “You can wear it to a wedding reception or an evening party.” Blue and maroon has hit the designer gowns largely in 2017. Keep the flare to just four or five meter and make your appearance simple and elegant at the parties, says Kannan.
A silk skirt and blouse
A plain silk skirt and blouse will help you dress up quickly on many occasions. Buy a good silk saree and get it stitched into a skirt with border and buy a matching casual blouse. Your attire for family or religious occasions is ready. “This one is a must-carry outfit for any Keralite teen girl. You'll need a silk skirt and blouse once in a while,” says Kannan.
A palazzo or a crop top
“Keep a palazzo, a crop top or a different silhouette dress in your wardrobe so that you wear it on a birthday or a casual party,” says the master designer. These casual and trendy pieces will never look too much, but will surely help you make a statement.
A set mundu and its blouse
This traditional Keralite attire is an indispensable part in every Malayali girl's wardrobe. That 'Malayali Manga' look in golden bordered set mundu, its silk blouse and jasmine flowers on head is certainly unique and elegant. “A Keralite teen girl must keep a set mundu and its blouse in her wardrobe so that she can wear it to temples or religious ceremonies,” says Kannan.
A saree and its blouse
And finally, a saree. “Make it shaded and match it with a contrasting blouse to keep in track with trends of 2017,” says the Seematti silk maestro. “Never forget to buy one or two pair of casual earrings to match with it. It is okay even if you leave your wrists free for a very casual look,” she adds. She observes that Keralites are used to wearing a printed or a floral blouse or even a crop top with their casual shaded sarees.
