Pookutty lashes out at AMMA, asks why the hurry to declare Dileep guilty

Ever since Dileep's arrest in connection with the actress attack case, there have been strong criticism of the alleged media trial against the actor. However, Oscar winning sound artist Resul Pookutty is concerned about the way the Malayalam film industry treated Dileep after he landed in the police net.

Pookutty on Saturday said he was surprised by the hastiness the film fraternity showed to declare Dileep guilty in the case.

Resul wrote on Twitter, “I'm quite surprised by my Malayalam Film Fraternity, the moment police arrested Dileep everybody left him! Amma removed him from primary membership. As per our judicial system every accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty! Why was the hurry to declare him guilty?!” (sic.)

He said there was a mob mentality in the way everyone looked at the case.

“I hope judiciary shows wisdom in looking at his case & look @ the fine print,” he tweeted.

Dileep was arrested on the night of July 10 and is lodged in the Aluva sub-jail. The popular actor is accused of masterminding the February 17 attack on the actress. The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes removed him from primary membership a day after he was arrested. The actor had moved the Kerala HC for bail for a second time on Thursday.
