Tamil actor Ravichandran passes away

Kochi: Veteran Tamil actor Ravichandran, who was earlier married to Malayalam actress Sheela, died on Monday at a Chennai private hospital. He was 71.

The actor had been hospitalised for the past ten days, owing to kidney ailment. With both his pulse and blood pressure having dropped drastically, he was on a life support system over the last two days.

A contemporary of  yesteryear heroes like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan, Ravichandran made his debut as a hero in the Tamil film "Kadhalikka Neramillai"(1964). He had done "Arunachalam" with Rajinikanth and "Pammal K Sambandam" with Kamal Haasan. Ravichandran has acted in about ten Malayalam films as well.

After his divorce from Sheela, Ravichandran married Vimala and is survived by three sons and a daughter.
