A scene from Bharya Athra Pora
   1 - 2
Kottayam: The family entertainer, Bharya Athra Pora  directed by Akku Akbar, is simply disappointing.

The movie revolves around Sathyanathan (Jayaram), a school teacher, his wife Priya who is a bank employee and their son studying in class X.

Sathyanathan is an alcoholic and leads a wayward life. His wife and son are the victims of his astray life, which goes from bad to worse day by day. Yet, he is always on the look out for new possibilities in life. Social media and illicit relationships add fuel to the abominable situation.

Lacking the sheen of life the family drama has nothing fresh to offer. Whether it's a happy moment or a sad one, the graveness of situations is spoilt by their melodramatic portrayal. Moreover, the director's efforts to make scenes more eventful hampers the flow.

Logic is found betrayed on several occasions. One may ask many questions himself after leaving the theatre. The incoherent script produces nothing which script writer, K Gireesh Kumar, can be proud of. Other departments of the film, such as cinematography or music, also fail miserably.

One may wonder what the director is actually trying to establish through the film. Does he want to say that husbands can live the way they wish? It's not clear. However, there is a message that wives should be bold enough to take strong decisions at the right moment - the only plus in the movie.
