Panaji: Noted South Korean filmmaker, Kim Ki Duk, who is considered as one among the best ten directors alive in the world, attended the IFFI, 2012 Wednesday. The movie buffs, who thronged at the fest, were delighted immensely to welcome the veteran film maker.

His latest film "Pieta" had won the Golden Lion for Best film at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, 2012. The film will be screened at the ongoing Goa film festival.

Speaking about Pieta, Kim said that the movie implicated 'intensive capitalism '. He also said that the movie has an autobiographical undertone. Pieta was his eighteenth film. Many of Kim's movies had been screened at the international film festival held in Thiruvananthapuram.

Just before his departure to India, his first visit to the country, Kim was conferred the 'Order of Cultural Merit' - one of the Republic Korea's Orders of Merit.

Asked whether he had any interest in attending IIFK, he said he would certainly come some time in future. A Korean-English translator Joo Hee Ann accompanied him since he was not fluent in English.
