Two Malayalam films for IFFK competition

Thiruvananthapuram:  Two Malayalam films-- 'Bhoomiyude Avakasikal' by T V Chandran and 'Shutter' by debutant Joy Mathew-- have been selected for the competition section of the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala.

A total of 14 films would be shown in the competition section, comprising films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The list of other films in the section will be released later.

Seven films were selected for the 'Malayalam Cinema Now' section of the festival, S Priyadarshan, Chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, organisers of the festival, said in a press release here.

'Aakashathinte Niram' (Dr Biju), 'Ithramathram' (K Gopinath), 'Ozhimuri' (Madhupal), 'Chayilyam' (Manoj Kana), 'Friday' (Lijin Jose), 'Ee Adutha Kalathu' (Arun Kumar Aravind) and 'Indian Rupee' (Ranjith) are the films to be screened in the 'Malayalam Cinema Now' section.

The festival will run through December 7 to 14.
