Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan's visit to the residence of  murdered RMP leader TP Chandrashekaran, has been like a bolt from the blue for the CPM  as it took place on the eve of the Neyyattinkara by-poll elections.

The party had not expected Achuthanandan of taking such a defiant step even as the party state secretary Pinnarayi Vijayan had been describing the deceased leader as a traitor.

The move had displayed Achuthananda's unwillingness to surrender to the party lines and exposed the rifts within the ranks of the party.
